Fantasy Fiction Course Q + A with Brandon Sanderson

I got very lucky with presentations this semester; after two excellent ones for my creative writing course, which you can read about in my previous post on the subject, I managed to get New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson for a question and answer session with my fantasy fiction students.  Much of the conversation revolved around his book we had studied for the course, The Alloy of Law, but there were plenty of other things touched on as well...and overall, I think everyone was very happy with the experience.  Head to my Media page for the full video!

Creative Writing Course Presentations

I've been including presentations from creative professionals in different fields as a part of my course on creative writing for many years...I'm happy that I finally remembered to actually film parts of these presentations this time.  Norman Cates and Bryan Thao Worra hold forth on the creative process for them in these clips; I think my students dug them.  (And I certainly did!)  Head over to my Media page and check them out!

Worldcon panel

Just a quick post to let everyone know that I've posted a new panel appearance on my Media page from this most recent Worldcon, about teaching outside the box with science fiction--there were some really interesting panels in Reno, and I'm glad to finally get the chance to share one of the more academically oriented ones here.  Please head over and let me know what you think!
