So this is actually happening...

I'd say they've gone too far to turn back now:

AuthorCopies

It may not show up in a picture, but the quality of the books is great (the physical quality, I mean...only you can decide about the stuff inside the covers.). Five Star has a reputation for putting out a really high caliber product, and I can now confirm that the reputation is well deserved--this isn't going to break down after a few readings. Of course these are only my copies; the book will officially be released on Wednesday to the general public. But still, there's something pretty cool about opening up that carton and seeing the physical product of your imagination sitting right there in front of you, and something even cooler about holding it in your hands for the first time. As I've said before, there's a whole lot more on the horizon: readings, signings, and, most important, writing more books. (Heck, there's even that whole silly "official publication date" still to come. :) ) But for at least one day, I'm going to enjoy having these. Reality is, sometimes, an improvement over a dream.

Nice! And I'm strangely amused that you and I share a title font :-)

Thanks, Jim...and wow, you're right. Heck, if TTS does as well as Stepsister, I'll take it. (And if the rest of you don't know what we're talking about, go to my Links section and check out Jim Hines's site and THE STEPSISTER SCHEME...you'll see what we mean.)

Those look great! Who did the cover art? I still associate big boxes of spankin' new books with the ending of "Back to the Future," when George McFly cracks open the box containing fresh copies of "A Match Made in Space."

As it turns out, I'm going to be in the Cascades for the next two months, beyond the reach of cell phones and the Internet (mostly). So I can't make the U Bookstore signing :( I'm still looking forward to reading it though, and I will catch you on the book tour for novel number two!

Thanks, Jesse--the cover art was done by Joshua David McClurg-Genevese, to whom there's a link on my site, and yeah...I'm very pleased with it. I hadn't thought of that scene from BTTF, but there aren't that many movies that represent how nice it feels to open that box for the first time! Sorry to hear that you'll miss the reading, but enjoy the Cascades, and we'll catch up some other time.
